I am beginning to think that the last message written should be on the top instead of the bottom of each topic. Does this make sense. Is this even possible?

Yes it is possible but....

...would it be more confusing if there are 3 new messages in a forum and you have to read the 3rd then the 2nd then the 1st one to understand them? or to read the 12th, 13th, then the 14th?
